A successful debut requires a smashing social event, and in this dazzling new series from New York Times bestselling author Sabrina Jeffries, the key ingredient is Elegant Occasions—a talk of the ton trio of creative, enterprising
young ladies who've rejected working as governesses to become party planners. And if they, and their wealthy clients, happen to find love along the way, it just makes their efforts more rewarding ...
Self-made civil engineer Geoffrey Brookhouse has unexpectedly inherited the dukedom of Grenwood. But he has a secret that could ruin his family. Hoping to save his timid sister from that fate, he seeks to marry her off to a respectable,
protective gentleman. With the London Season imminent, Geoffrey hires Elegant Occasions to orchestrate her debut. Yet Lady Diana Harper, spirited fashion expert, proves more than he bargained for. Suddenly, Geoffrey's sister is
emerging from her shell, and he is beleaguered with social invitations and gossip! Worse, Diana is attempting to transform him into a presentable duke—when all he really wants is to make her his own ...
Diana doesn't know what to make of the handsome, disheveled duke. The man bristles at the very idea that his fashion faux pas might spoil his sister's chances.
Yet Geoffrey's stubbornness simply inspires Diana to ruffle his feathers—by setting him on a course of self-improvement. Although there's something endearing, even irresistible about his flaws, can a man who hates the ton tolerate
a woman who makes her living catering to them? Little does either know that they have more in common than they suspect—and that two can create a society all their own ...

Bestseller Jeffries (The Bachelor) launches her Designing Debutantes series with this witty Regency romance. Though Lady Diana Harper and her sisters, young Verity and widowed Eliza, are social outcasts due to their scandalous parents’ many infidelities, they’re able to put their knowledge of fashion and the aristocracy to use running Elegant Occasions, a party planning company that helps clients navigate the intricate and high stakes world of London society. The sisters’ expertise is challenged when the unlikely new Duke of Grenwood, the rough-hewn Geoffrey Brookhouse, requests their assistance launching his sister, Rosy, into society. Though Geoffrey balks at Diana’s price, he agrees to double her fee if she can guarantee his sister will have five suitors a day the week after her debut ball. Diana refuses to back down and agrees to his terms on the condition that he submit to her instruction on improving his own manners as well. The bargain forces them to spend time together, and their initial attraction builds into a relationship neither expected. Jeffries again proves her mastery of historical romance with this scintillating series debut, complete with bold, determined characters whose sparring only highlights their sexual tension. Historical romance fans will be riveted. Agent: Pam Ahearn, Ahearn Agency.

In this first installment in the Designing Debutantes Regency romance series, narrator Beverley Crick's delivery is filled with wit, charm, and just the right feistiness for the heroine, Lady Diana Harper. In disgrace with society through no fault of their own, Lady Diana and her two sisters put their knowledge of fashion into Elegant Occasions, a business that plans balls and coming-out events for the ton. Crick's voices and accents expertly reflect the story's period and characters. When the new Duke of Grenwood approaches the women to ensure that his sister has a proper season, he gets more than he expected. Crick gives each sister an identifiable personality, her men sound appropriately stuffy, and her sex scenes sizzle. Comfortably predictable, this is historical romance performed at its best. When scandal made Lady Diana Harper's prospects seem grim, she decided to take destiny into her own hands and help other young ladies avoid the same fate. Four years later, she and her sisters run Elegant Occasions, a consulting business that guarantees their clients success on the marriage mart. When the newly minted Duke of Grenwood, Geoffrey Brookhouse, engages their services for his sister's debut, Diana finds his lack of aristocratic aptitude to be boorish and exasperating, but it soon becomes apparent that he has secrets and scandals of his own. In this first installment of the "Designing Debutantes" series, Jeffries ("Duke Dynasty" series) crafts an engaging historical romance with an enchanting cast of characters that readers will delight to see return in subsequent volumes. The audio experience is largely unremarkable, though not unpleasant. Narrator Beverly Crick's sultry voice is well-suited to the steamy love scenes, if not to the effervescent Harper girls and their bubbly banter. VERDICT This audio will appeal to listeners seeking a witty Regency romance with an intrepid female lead who is as spirited as she is sensuous. Recommended for fans of Mary Balogh, Eloisa James, and Lenora Bell.--Lauren Hackert
